SHVR Ground is one of South East Asia's best-loved electronic music festivals. This September, SHVR will be making its way back to Jakarta for its fourth edition, inviting fans to join in on their "Galaxia Voyage" theme. The organisers have put together a strong lineup featuring Timmy Trumpet, Afrojack, Above & Beyond, Brennan Heart, Darius and Ørjan Jilsen. From a glance at these names, most of you can already imagine the variety of genres that are being brought to the table this year. For those who are a little less familiar, here's a brief introduction to some of this year's biggest acts.
Timmy Trumpet
Timmy Trumpet is the Australian artist currently ranked at #33 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list. An expert in Electro House, Psytrance and Melbourne Bounce, Timmy began learning the trumpet at just four years old, starting out by playing classical music and eventually bagging himself a full scholarship to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Over the last few weeks, Timmy released the Electro House hit Raveille with German duo Plastik Funk and appeared on KSHMR's Dharma Worldwide compilation, Dharma: Sounds of Summer. KSHMR and Timmy have worked together previously, as they both featured on Carnage’s track Toca (see below).
Afrojack
Listed at #8 on the 2018 DJ Mag Top 100 list, Afrojack (real name Nick van de Wall) is a global superstar in the House, Trap and Electro fields. In the past he has worked with the likes of David Guetta, with whom he won a Grammy for a Madonna remix, as well as Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. During his career, Afrojack has performed at some of the biggest festivals in the world, it was just this month that he shocked the crowd by bringing out fellow DJ Hardwell during his Breda Live set in the Netherlands.
When talking of Afrojack, it's impossible not to mention the time he collaborated with Martin Garrix for Turn Up The Speakers:
Above & Beyond
Praised as the most popular electronic trio in the UK, Above & Beyond have been setting the bar high for Trance groups since the year 2000. During a career spanning two decades, Above & Beyond have achieved a number of feats including hosting their own two-day festival Group Therapy Weekender at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington.
In other news, in a change from their usual material, Above & Beyond recently announced that they would be releasing a yoga-inspired album. Flow State is said to be 49 minutes of ambient and neo-classical music which is designed to encourage mindfulness and meditation.
Brennan Heart
For the Hardstyle fans out there, this one is not to be missed! Brennan Heart (real name Fabian Bohn) began experimenting with Techno, Hard Trance and Tech Trance, before finally settling and finding his own sound in the Hardstyle genre. The Dutch DJ has expressed that he does not restrict himself to catchy, lyric-driven hardstyle tracks but also plays with raw hardstyle too. For those unfamiliar with him, check out Brennan Heart's Tomorrowland 2018 set below to prepare yourself for SHVR Ground.
Ørjan Nilsen
Trance fans really have it lucky this year, not only will Above & Beyond be making their way to Jakarta this September, but Norwegian Trance DJ Ørjan Nilsen will also be taking to the stage. Ørjan's latest single FOMO was released earlier this month on his own label My Opinion, take a listen below and you'll see how perfectly designed it's been designed for the mainstage. Watch the video from his set at Transmission Shanghai to get an idea of what he'll bring to SHVR Ground 2019.
Darius
Hailing from Paris, producer Darius is signed to French label Roche Music and is widely known for playing a mix of disco, house and funk. Most recently, Darius joined up with fellow Roche Music family member Dabeull to release their single Love You So Much.
