By official partner SugarLand | September 18th, 2019
Welcome to FestGround's Weekly Wrap Up, where we aim to bring you a breakdown of the biggest news from the world of music. Scroll down for lineup announcements, music releases and a look at what your favourite DJs have been getting up to over the last seven days.
1. EDC Guangdong Announce Full Lineup
EDC Guangdong have finally revealed their full lineup for 2019! Joining an already stellar list of DJs are Afrojack, Alesso, DeadMau5, Whipped Cream and a slew of other big names. Guangdong will be EDC's only stop in China this year, so it looks as though Insomniac are pulling out all the stops to make sure it's one not to forget.
Judging by the current list, attendees can expect a feast EDM, Trance, Hardstyle, Bass, House and more! The "Early Owl" and "Wise Owl" tickets have already been snapped up, with just the "Later Owl" ones still on sale, so buy now to avoid disappointment.
2. Spotify Acquires Production Platform to Help Artists Create Music
On September 12, Spotify announced that they had acquired the global music production marketplace SoundBetter, which they will be integrating into the Spotify for Artists service.
SoundBetter was established in 2012 and currently has over 180,000 users, including producers, singers, songwriters and so on. When using SoundBetter, you can track down partners for your projects, helping find a way to turn your semi-finished creations into professional works.
“We’re excited that creators can generate income through SoundBetter, as well as benefit from its network of top professionals- from instrumentalists to songwriters to producers- as they perfect their tracks” said Spotify's Vice President of Product and Strategy Beckwith Kloss.
3. DeadMau5 Reveals New Album "Here's The Drop" is Coming in October
It seems like deadmau5 has finally come up with an answer to the question he posed last year. Following on from his 2018 album Where’s The Drop?, the Canadian producer revealed that his latest collection of tracks, titled Here's The Drop, will be released on October 4th, 2019.
Currently there are few details on this release, but the producer first teased the album on social media last week, sharing artwork to his Instagram account. We can only imagine what's in store for now, but judging by the name and art it's clear to see that there's a strong connection between this album and the last, so keep your eyes peeled for any updates!
4. W&W Join FEVER and Li-Ning in Promoting EDM Culture across China
On September 12, FEVER- the electronic music brand of Chinese Internet technology company NetEase- joined up with sporting and athletic goods company Li-Ning to cohost a W&W signing session.
During the event, W&W were officially signed to NetEase's brand, meaning that afterwards FEVER will make strategic plans for W&W's development in China and help them to work with artists from the region. As for Li-Ning, the company will release an EDM-inspired clothing line in collaboration with W&W as a way to promote Chinese brands and trends to EDM fans around the world.
This year W&W are really making their mark in China, as they are set to appear at Vision And Colour Festival in Wuhan in November. Some of the worlds biggest EDM artists are due to perform at the event, including DJ Snake, Alan Walker, Martin Garrix and R3hab. More information and ticket purchases are available via the link below.
5. Zedd and Gordon Ramsay Join Forces to Create a Breakfast Sandwich
Don't quit your day job Zedd... Recently, in addition to taking over the world of EDM, the world-class producer decided to branch out and appeared as a guest on Kitchen Nightmares chef Gordon Ramsay's YouTube series.
During the episode of Scrambled, Ramsey dashed around the kitchen whilst Zedd cautiously followed orders, doing his best to earn the chef's approval. The result was a scrambled egg-filled breakfast sandwich that Ramsey himself described as "f*cking delicious". It seems like maybe we'll be seeing Zedd in the next season of Hell's Kitchen? See the full video here.
However before then, what we can be sure of is that we'll definitely be seeing Zedd at Indonesia's Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) 2019- maybe he'll whip up some sandwiches from behind decks? For DWP tickets please follow the link below:
