Yellow Claw leads a star-studded lineup for the world’s wettest festival

This July, S2O Taiwan Songkran Music Festival will finally reach the shores of Taiwan. Following Japan, this will be the second stop as part of S2O's global expansion and is scheduled to take place at Dajia Riverside Park on July 6/7. Due to the convenient location, the water fight meet music festival is expected to draw in large swathes of fans from Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and other neighboring countries.

Organizers have taken the concept of an EDM festival and combined it with Thailand's famous Songkran tradition. In addition to the intricate stage designs and stellar lineup of world-class DJs, the festival's biggest selling points are the specially designed 360-degree sprinklers and high-pressure water guns guaranteed to soak everyone. This is a festival like no other, where ticket-holders can quench their thirst for EDM, House, Dubstep and more, all the while getting doused by towering water cannons.

Lineup

For this edition, S2O has assembled a staggering lineup that features a range of international talent. R3hab and Yellow Claw will headline the Saturday and Sunday respectively, with support over the two days from VINAI, Tujamo, Rave Republic, TJR, Ookay and so on. See below for a brief introduction to some of the acts.

R3hab

Having previously played at S2O Songkran in Bangkok, Dutch DJ R3hab (Fadil El Ghoul) gave a performance so unforgettable that he was invited to fill the headline slot for the Taiwan edition. R3hab jumped onto the Dutch House scene pretty early and cites one of his biggest influences as Infected Mushroom, the Israeli psytrance duo. Nowadays, aside from his own original music he is also known as the champion of remixing, having famously put his own spin on artists like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Tiesto.

Yellow Claw

Yellow Claw is a dutch electronic supergroup made up of members Jim Aasgier (Jim Taihuttu) and Nizzle (Nils Rondhuis). They describe their sound as having elements of Hardstyle, Moombahton, Hip-Hop and Trap and often collaborate with rappers to help their music become more accepted in the mainstream market. The pair first reached success after founding and hosting a nightclub in Amsterdam, so it's clear that they understand how to create the perfect atmosphere for a party. Those lucky enough might have seen Yellow Claw perform at Taipei's EDM club 'Omni' earlier this year, however July promises to be even better as they prepare to headline S2O.

DJ Soda

DJ Soda (So Hee Hwang) is the Korean beauty taking over the scene in Asia- just a peek at her social media shows the extent of her popularity, having amassed over 6 million followers on Facebook. Originally, she started out acting and singing before her love for hip-hop persuaded her to switch to DJing. What's notable about DJ Soda is the way she has climbed to fame in a country otherwise dominated by K-pop bands, creating a fanbase that stretches far across the globe.

DeeJay RayRay

Besides obtaining a degree from the anthropology department at National Taiwan University, DJ RayRay is the first female DJ from Taiwan to perform at Tomorrowland in Belgium. Not only that, but she's also the first Taiwanese artist to release an EP on Yellow Claw's label 'Barong Family'. Having being classically trained in cello and piano from a young age, DJ RayRay just happened to come into contact with Hip-Hop in high school, which opened her eyes to the world of DJing. Often asked to play at venues around the world, she has performed with international artists such as Yellow Claw, Skrillex, Martin Garrix, DJ Shadow, and Snoop Dogg.

S2O Lineup

In addition to the artists listed above, the other artists set to appear at S2O Taiwan this year are:

- Swedish Tropical House DJ Mike Perry
- Trap, house and future bass legend Ookay
-
No. 46 on DJ Mag's 'Top 100 DJs' Tujamo
-
Dutch electronic duo Vicetone
-
Italian sensations Vinai
-
Australian EDM pair Rave Radio

2019 S2O Taiwan Songkran Festival

In the past, S2O took place in April during the Songkran new year festivities, meaning that EDM fans had no option but to fly to all the way to Thailand to join in. This year, on the contrary, those in East Asia need to look no further as the party has finally come to Taiwan! The most unique and anticipated aspect of the festival is obviously the unique stage fit with water cannons, dousing the audience with water in the mid-summer heat.
Ticket sales have now entered their final stage, so buy now to make sure you don't miss out on Taiwan's first ever Songkran festival.
